    Established Hikari Kogyo Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Chuo-ku, Nishi Hatchobori, Tokyo) with the support of Resonac Corporation (at the time, called Showa Denko K.K.) and Ajinomoto Co., Inc., to market chemicals and fertilizers in Japan while also importing and exporting them.

    Listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

  • 1981

    Listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

  • 1982

    Changed company name to SHOKO CO., LTD., and moved headquarters to Nishi-Shimbashi, Minato-ku, Tokyo.

    Effected an absorption merger of Shoko Kagaku Kogyo K.K. and Yokohama Kagaku K.K.

    Merged with Kyodo Light Metal Co., Ltd., a trading company specializing in aluminum and a subsidiary of Showa Denko.

    Opened South Korea Branch

    Established Shoko Insurance Service Co., Ltd., to promote insurance agency business. (A consolidated subsidiary today)

    Acquired 100% of shares in Be International Corporation.

    Shoko Scientific Co., Ltd. effected an absorption merger of SI Science Co., Ltd. and changed the corporate name to Shoko Science Co., Ltd. (A consolidated subsidiary today)
